Who we are

Reach Out: Rest, Recovery & Renewal was founded by Louise and Cheryl, who are both directors of the organisation.

Together, they bring a strong blend of professional expertise and lived experience, united by a shared commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and accessible support for people affected by mental health challenges and addiction — including individuals in recovery and the people who love and support them.

Cheryl is a qualified nurse with professional experience supporting individuals and families facing complex health and emotional challenges. She also has lived experience as an affected other, having supported people close to her through addiction and mental health difficulties. This combination of clinical knowledge and personal understanding allows Cheryl to bring deep empathy, insight, and realism to her work. She creates safe, calm, and compassionate spaces where people feel heard, respected, and supported, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and a strong focus on safety and wellbeing.

Louise is a trauma-informed trainer, coach and mentor with lived experience of addiction and mental health challenges. She works with people experiencing addiction, those in recovery, and affected others such as family members, partners, and carers. Louise is a registered Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainer and delivers recovery-led training and coaching that is practical, empowering, and grounded in psychological safety. Her work combines evidence-informed tools with honesty, empathy, and lived understanding, supporting people to create meaningful and sustainable change without judgement.

At Reach Out, we believe recovery is not about being “fixed” — it is about rest, understanding, choice, and renewal. Everything we do is grounded in empathy, clear boundaries, and the belief that change is always possible with the right support.

Our Boundaries:

We are a non-clinical community organisation.
We do not provide emergency, crisis, or medical services.

Where appropriate, we support individuals through safe signposting to specialist or statutory services.
